The South West Public Health Observatory (SWPHO) may store manually or electronically personal information you submit to it via the Healthy Weight for Children Hub website. This policy sets out how the SWPHO uses and protects the information that you provide.

What is personal information?

Personal information means any information that can be used to identify an individual, including, but not limited to, a first and last name, a home or other physical address and an email address or other contact information, whether at work or at home.

Information you give us

Signing up to the Healthy Weight for Children Hub, posting messages and adding an Intervention or resource will necessitate a record of your name, email address and other optional personal information on our database. We will never disclose your email address or other personal information to any third party without your permission. From time to time we may use this information to contact you, for example, if we have a query about a contribution you have made to the site or in response to feedback or a complaint from you.

Automatic information

In general, the Healthy Weight for Children Hub automatically gathers certain usage information like the numbers and frequency of visitors, very much like television ratings that tell the television companies how many people tuned in to a specific programme. We only use such data in the aggregate. This aggregate data helps us determine how much certain parts of the site are accessed by our users, which enables us to improve our site to ensure that it is as useful as possible.

For security purposes, we also store users IP addresses, with dates and times of acccess. As with other personal information, your IP address will not be passed on to third parties.

Links to other websites

The Healthy Weight for Children Hub may link to other websites that are outside the SWPHO's control. The privacy policies of these other websites may differ from, and are therefore not covered by, this policy.
